Q. My proposed building/structure will require well and/or septic. Who do I contact?
A. BEFORE a Zoning Permit can be issued, and BEFORE construction can start, you MUST obtain a well and/or septic permit from the Fulton County Health Department. Please call (309) 647-1134 and ask for the “Environmental Health Division” for more information.
Q. What do I need to do to prepare for a site visit from the Zoning Enforcement Officer?
A. Prior to the Zoning Enforcement Officer coming out for a site visit, please make sure that the corners/location of the proposed structure are marked. This can be done by setting stakes in the ground, pins, rebar, spray paint, etc.
Q. Do I need to let the Zoning Office know when my structure/project is complete?
A. Yes! In order to legally occupy a new structure/building/dwelling, you must receive a “Certificate of Occupancy” from the Zoning Enforcement Officer. If your structure is not subject to occupancy, the Zoning Officer will issue a “Certificate of Completion”.
Q. Can I pay my Zoning Fee online?
A. Yes! Please visit: https://www.govpaynow.com/gps/user/plc/a0004a
Q. My Conditional Use Permit/Variance was approved, do I still need a Zoning Permit?
A. Yes! Conditional Use Permits give permission to operate or construct a specific type of structure/facility in a specific Zoning District. Variances give permission to locate a structure in a location contrary to what is specified in the Fulton County Zoning Ordinance.
