John Meixner (R)

Regional Superintendent Meixner started at the ROE in 2006 as the appointed Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools. He was appointed the Regional Superintendent of Schools in 2008, elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.

John is a graduate of Macomb High School. He attended Spoon River College and graduated from Western Illinois University in Teacher Education. He later received his Master’s degree at WIU in Educational Administration.

While attending WIU for his undergraduate degree, his passion for the educational field began as a coach at Macomb CUSD and Colchester CUSD before he began his full-time career in education at Industry CUSD as the District Athletic Director, Head Varsity Boys’ Basketball coach, head Varsity Boy’s Baseball coach and Physical Education teacher. He later moved to Southeastern CUSD as a coach and teacher. At Southeastern CUSD, John became the first District Athletic Director and the Junior High building Administrator.

Reg. Supt. Meixner has successfully led the consolidation of two Regional Offices of Education in 2015 which now consist the region of Fulton, Hancock, McDonough & Schuyler Counties. ROE26 has two office locations in Macomb and Lewistown.

John has served and continues to serve on numerous community boards and organizations in the four county area he serves. He has also served on a few State Task Forces/Commissions and as an Officer for the Regional Superintendent’s Association.
