7. Reports from Committee Chairs
a. Community Development, Zoning
Member Kessel reported the Bi-Centennial celebration was held Sunday Sept. 3rd. There was a good
turnout and a good time was had by all. The fireworks show was phenomenal. The committee
thanked Member Kessel for all her hard work preparing the event. All invoices have been approved
for Bi-Centennial related costs.
b. Health
Member Platt reported there were 2 meetings this month. The Clayberg is waiting on approval from
the State for the shower room. They are working on updating the website. Hiring is continuous.
Looking at an MOU to pay the LPNs $5,000 more a year. Accepting applications for an Assistant
Director of Nursing. Developing a procedure in order to provide jail meals.
c. County Highway
Member Heller reported that culvert on Co. 15 is done. Co. 2 should be open for the Scenic Drive. Bid
opening for the new highway department will be September 13th. Right now, the crews are out
working on patching pot holes.
d. Finance, Insurance, Personnel, Legislative
Member Thompson reported Finance has 1 appointment and a resolution from the County Clerk to
increase the base pay of Election judges will be presented to the board for approval.
e. Property, Public Safety
Member Williams reported working on budget for the campground. With Supt.Young’s resignation, the
committee is looking at restructuring the positions that lead the campground. Looking to have a host
and contract out the maintenance work. The committee believes that this will save the county money.
Moving forward with the sally port project at the jail. Will look at bathrooms at Courthouse. Kone
elevators maintenance increase is 4%.
8. Old Business-Negotiations are ongoing with the Union contract. A company is interested in
purchasing a portion of the landfill.
9. New Business
We will be hiring a new Administrative assistant to replace Cindy. The County Clerk has job
descriptions up and will be running ads in the local newspapers and online.
