Member Deushane discussed the Prairie Rivers network is looking for a donation to support health trees, rivers and abundant wildlife in Illinois.
Member Deushane asked to send the information to the Finance committee to make a decision.

a. Sheriff
Sheriff Standard reported the total Sheriff claims were $18,990.90. Member Bohler moved to approve the claims with a second from Member Kumer. Motion carried by roll call vote (5-0).
b. Jail
Sheriff Standard reported the total Jail claims were $33,989.84. Member Bohler moved to approve the claims with a second from Member Kumer. Motion carried by roll call vote (5-0).
c. Animal Control
Sheriff Standard reported the total Animal Control claims were $3,723.09. Member Bohler moved to approve the claims with a second from Member Kumer. Motion carried by roll call vote (5-0).

Sheriff Standard reported the total Merit claims were $1,083.50. Member Bohler moved to approve the claims with a second from Member Kumer. Motion carried by roll call vote (5-0).

a. Discussion/Action: Resolution: Courthouse Cannon Restoration
Member Kumer suggested also sending a thank you note to Hitchcock’s Scrap Yard for the restoration of the gun and cannon.

a. Campground Claims
Member Deushane reported the first Campground claims were $17,546.46. Member Bohler moved to approve the claims with a second from Member Kumer. Motion carried by roll call vote (5-0).

6. Fulton County Camping and Rec
a. Superintendent’s Report
John Young, Camping and Rec Superintendent, discussed since the last committee meeting no incidents have been reported.
An update on the abandoned trailers, a positive turn was made last month with the removal of one of the three abandoned trailers. The hauler the campground hired wants to complete the project by
5:00pm on the May 11, 2022. The three abandoned trailers are still in the legal phase.
Based on the auditor’s draft notice, the campground will owe rent to MWRD (Metropolitan Water Reclamation District). The payment will be $1633.50 or 25% of the campground profits. This is not burdensome to the campground budget. The playground slide the campground is installing cost the campground full price, and this is a requirement to pay for improving the MWRD property. This is the number one item on the campground list and will be discussed at the upcoming meeting with MWRD officials.
Currently, the waiting list for 2022 is at forty-one. The majority who declined the invite asked to be put on the 2023 list. The remainder of the waitlisted campers have been left messages, and have not returned the call or the phone number that is on file is not good. Currently there are seventeen electric sites and four non-electric sites open. Several people on the waiting list have been called, and the campground is waiting for a return call. The weather and world events may impact this camping season.
On April 13th, Superintendent Young met with Mid-century and MWRD officials to discuss the easement issues. The project is now back on track, and the campground hopes to have the installation completed sometime in June 2022.
“Come Fly a Kite!” the campground first family friendly program event was a major hit! The campground handed out 54 of the 66 kites brought in for the event. The May event is a twofer, with a prize at the end. At the suggestion of one of the kids who came to fly kites, it was decided that the campground will be decorating rocks from 1:00pm – 4:00pm on May 8, 2022, Mother’s Day at the Pavilion. Folks will be able to pick up the nature scavenger hunt card which is the second part of the May event on Sunday May 22, 2022 from 1:00pm – 4:00p, or until supplies run out. Courtney Young will be making slime with the kids.
The campground will be awarding a raffle prize that afternoon! You do not need to be at either event in person to participate in the scavenger hunt. Game cards will be available after 4:00pm on Sunday, May 8, 2022 via Facebook, email or pick one up at the info booth. The winner will be contacted once their name is drawn.
On May 5, 2022 www.fultoncamping.com went live. A couple of pictures need to be changed, but the web page is up and functional. The training to maintain the new website will be coming up in the next couple of weeks.
A successful program the campground instituted in 2019 is going to return this season. The caretakers’ position(s) will be open to any current county employee. In exchange for general assistance with landscaping, programing or tasks as assigned, participants will receive compensation in the form of a campsite and related fees in exchange.
The shower house opened May 1, 2022 two weeks ahead of the traditional date. The dump station is completed. A big thanks to the Kinsel Excavating & Wickert Electric for their professional efforts.
Trail work resume this month, weather permitting.
On May 4, 2022, Rob and crew from IDNR started testing the lakes. Little Sister and #3 are on the top of the list. Once the campground has the reports back, Superintendent Young can see where the in house stocking program stands.
On May 10, 2022 was the final mitigation of the damage left by a former site holder that fouled their site. 36 construction bags of materials were disposed of as instructed by FCHD (Fulton County Health Department). The site will get a final clean-up.
